Creating Strong Bonds Between Pets and Their Owners
Basic Obedience and Behavior Training
Vicky offers group classes in basic obedience and behavior training. Her approach includes a combination of group work as well as individualized attention with each owner and their pet. Classes are kept small to ensure enough time and attention to each pet, enabling Vicky to understand the specific issues that the owner wishes to correct.
Classes include basic obedience and commands, socialization with other dogs, effective leash training, and how to communicate with your pet, combined with targeted attention to specific issues the owner is having. In addition to class each week, owners are expected to work with their pet at home in their normal environment.
Classes are held Monday and Wednesday nights for four weeks, on-site at Vicky's home. Cost is $150.00 per pet, with a $25.00 deposit to reserve a spot. All pets must have current vaccinations and a negative fecal test within the last year.
In-Home Consultations
Vicky offers consultations to help owners and their pets in their home environment. During her first visit in the owner's home, she will observe the specific issues and concerns regarding the pet's behavior. As each owner and pet's situation is unique, she will use this initial visit to recommended a course of action to target behavioral issues. She will then develop a plan and determine pricing to work with the owner and their pet.
In-Home Consultations are charged at an hourly rate, with a one hour minimum. In addition to Vicky's in-home visits, owners are expected to work with their pet in between visits, utilizing the techniques and strategies that Vicky advises.
AKC Canine Good Citizenship
Vicky is an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizenship Evaluator. Participants in Vicky's group classes learn the concepts and develop the training techniques of Canine Good Citizenship. At the end of each four-week session owners and their pets are tested on many of these fundamental skills. Vicky will then provide advice on next steps to continue the training for each owner and their pet.
